This past year was filled with several life-changing events for me. On June 7th of 2010 I got engaged to the love of my life, Misha Tatinets, on the beautiful lake in Central Park. That day also happened to be my birthday and the very last day of a three-year fellowship in Carnegie Hall’s Academy program. It was most definitely a day to remember!! In August I joined the faculty at the Colorado Springs Conservatory and decided to leave NYC at last, after 9 long and action-packed years.
On September 17, Misha and I packed all of my belongings into a truck just a few hours after a tornado ripped through my neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn. It was the first tornado there in 50 years! I’m not sure if that was New York’s way of telling me it was time to move on or not, but it certainly made me wonder.. We drove the truck for 28 hours into the beautiful state of Colorado, with plenty of adventures along the way.
On October 30th, Misha and I got married in a small and intimate ceremony, and had a big wedding for all the family and friends 7th months later on June 4. Our big wedding was at Glen Eyrie Castle near the mountains in Colorado Springs, and it was the wedding of our dreams with the perfect weather, eagles soaring above our heads, and butterflies following me down the aisle.
